5 Foods That Can Lead To Inflammation


A lot of time, when you are eating, you have no idea how badly your food can affect your body. There are a lot of things that we eat on daily basis, without knowing that they can cause inflammation. A research in the University of South Calorina found that people eating foods that cause inflammation (usually foods that contain a high amount of fats and sugars) have more chances of dying, as compared to people who eat fruits and vegetables and have a healthy diet.

Study Author Susan Stek, PHD, MPH, RD, warns us that chronic low-grade inflammation can result in very serious health conditions including cancer, diabetes, cardiovascular diseases and sometimes, can even cause death. The study also revealed the alarming point that people who eat foods that cause inflammation are four times more likely to die due to gastrointestinal tract cancer.

What we need to worry about is that we eat many of these foods on daily basis. Here are 5 foods that you should avoid in order to prevent inflammation:

1. Vegetable Oils

Vegetable oils are unsaturated and are used widely all over the world. However, they are not safe to be consumed at all. They contain Omega-6 fatty acids that are not good for your health.

According to a report by the researchers of University of Toronto, vegetable oils are highly inflammation causing and can result in serious heath related problems like coronary artery disease. You should switch to oils containing omega-3 fatty acids, for example canola oil, olive oil and coconut oil.
